Hope for the Zombie Mommy

Hope for the Zombie Mommy

by Coach Debbie

Don’t call me “mommy.”  Call me “mombie” because I am a zombie more times than I’m not.

  • Do you stay up too late at night?

  • Is your sleep interrupted by little people?

  • Is waking up entirely too early part of regular life?

  • Do you have any stresses during your day?

  • Is chaos the theme of the month?

Plain and simple, we are weary.  Physically, mentally, and emotionally, we are drained.

What are we supposed to freaking DO?!?

Let's look at Psalm 40:28-31 (don't skim over it, nkay?):

The LORD is the everlasting God,

The Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,

and His understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the LORD

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.”

PSALM 40:28-31

(Insert your name here) grows tired and weary.

God is incapable of growing tired or weary.

(Insert your name here) is weak.

God provides power for the weak.

(Insert your name here) will stumble and fall.

God renews strength, allowing us to walk, run, and soar.

No part of this Scripture tells us to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and suck it up.  We are never told to get over it or pretend everything is fine.  This Scripture diagnoses us as weak, weary, and so freaking DONE.  The LORD already knows we can get to the point of stumbling and falling.

And He has the cure if we have the hope.  He is no fan of self-help books or DIY mood enhancements.  His strength is the source of our strength.  Picture how strong our Almighty is; this is offered to us!

Do you believe God is who He says He is?

Do you trust that God can do what He says He can do?

The requirement is to “hope in the LORD.”  “Hope” in this verse means to bind together, be joined to, to meet, to lie in wait for someone, to expect, to be confident, to trust, to be enduring.

Do you have this hope?

In the middle of struggle, can we expectantly trust that He can bring us from stumbling to soaring?  He desires to RENEW our strength.  “Renew” in verse 31 means “to exchange.”   He offers to exchange our strength for His strength.

Will you drop to your knees, admit exhaustion, and tell Him to take over?

He is the everlasting God who is a whisper away.
